$1 Campaign
University Administrations aren’t listening to students. Ex-Minister of Education Michelle Courchesne said it clearly: “When I speak of consensus, I exclude the students”. When Concordia President Judith Woodsworth talks about a “consensus” she means a consensus among her cronies at the Conférence des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec (CREPUQ).
So, how can we get their attention? With the only thing they truly care about!
Holler with a Dollar!
WHAT TO DO:
1 When you are paying your tuition, make a symbolic payment of $1 before you pay the rest to let them know that there is a different consensus about increasing tuition, increasing fees, and increasing debt loads.
2 Send an e-mail to President Woodsworth, Patrick Kelley, Provost Graham, and Peter Kruyt to let them know why you are paying 1$ for tuition:

Here’s a message we wrote up (if you have a little writer’s block), but it would be great if you would share your personal thoughts and feelings.
Dear Administrators,Your “reasonable annual increases” over the course of many years has added up in the end to an enormous burden on students and society. Your decision to impose changes on students without consulting them, when in reality you had a choice in the matter, indicates the value you place on engaging directly with students. In the spirit of your beloved user-fee model, here is my dollar, the only thing that can get your attention.
Your constant increases are making it more and more difficult for us. We do not control multi-billion dollar corporations like you Mr. Kruyt. We do not have salaries of $1000 a day like you Dr. Woodsworth. We do not have the job security of tenure, like you Dr. Graham. We do not wield the budget axe, like you Mr. Kelley, we can only try to keep out of its way. We are simply trying to get by while getting an education so that we can contribute to society to the best of our ability, and to improve our own lives and the lives of our families and neighbours.
Please stand with us, not against us.
Sincerely
Your Student (while I can still afford it)
